Understanding the Question

Not sure what an assignment question is really asking? Wondering whether you’re on the right track in responding to it? To write effective university assignments, it is vital to understand exactly what each question requires you to do. This session will focus on the steps involved in successfully unpacking assignment instructions. We will explore the purpose, audience, structure, and tone of different common assignment types. You will also learn strategies for making sense of a question, choosing an appropriate writing style, determining the scope of a task, and understanding how to structure your response.
